My Epic Blog Launch

By | December 14, 2016

Hello World! Money Under the Cushions is Here! Happy Birthday!

This is the first of two posts today. You won’t want to miss the second as I’m sharing our epic money saving dining room chair makeover (the post is live now, although it won’t appear on the blog until later today). I hope you’re as excited as I am because one of you, my dear subscribers, will win a $50 Amazon gift card on Saturday. As a reminder, one winner will be selected on 12/17 and announced on 12/20.

It’s not too late to enter. Just subscribe here.

This launch process has been prolonged and protracted. It should have happened a LONG time ago but obstacles, both outside of my control and self-inflicted kept surfacing. Plus, I wanted to do this right.  In my head I needed a certain number of subscribers first, to be featured in specific publications, have a flawless site and my social networks up and running, and so on and so on. In other words, I had a bunch of excuses. It’s not that these weren’t real and necessary tasks. It’s that they didn’t need to happen in the way I insisted upon in order to launch.

The truth? I was scared. Of what? What are we usually afraid of when taking risks?  Failure. In this case failure has taken the form of the “what ifs.”  What if I’m just talking to myself and no one is reading, and no one ever comments? What if I’m no good, or worse, eye rollingly bad? What if all of this is just one huge waste of time?

Luckily my husband and best friend, Brad (who you’ll be hearing about a lot) spoke some truly wise words that helped me move forward. He said, “Will. You. Please. PLEASE!!! Just. Launch. Already! Just launch it! ” So I did. Here I am. Did I do it right? Who knows?

Here’s what I do know. I’m about to find out. The goal of Money Under the Cushions is to explore ways of making more, saving more, and being happy, in a way that causes laughter, inspires you to try something new, or ponder something in a different way.

I hope to accomplish this by being my most honest, quirky, enthusiastic self. Your feedback is so important as it will inform and guide me, so please leave comments and email me. And finally, now that Money Under the Cushions has launched I can’t wait to see what the future holds. There’s no reason to believe that it won’t be a wonderful journey. Thank you for joining me on this ride!

In an ideal world, Brad would open a bottle of champagne so that we could toast the launch. In reality I’m behind the scenes making sure that everything is working correctly on this first day. I invite you to spend a little time exploring the blog. You’ll see that it’s already pretty populated, with other areas “coming soon.”

As I mentioned at the beginning, my money saving “Epic Dining Room Chair Makeover” post is ready to view now, although it won’t appear on the blog until until 12:30 pm EST. Check it out, and let me know what you think about our “new” chairs.
